Top FAQs

  • Your hormones change a lot after delivery, going from very high to very low. This can cause feelings of sadness, anxiety, mood swings, and even disappointment. If these feelings last longer than about a week or two, you could be experiencing postpartum depression. Talk to someone you trust or even the baby’s doctor for advice.

  • Following delivery, there will be lots of st for discomfort as you heal. Most moms don’t talk about it, but you may feel terrible pain with the first bowel movement after birth, have swollen feet, experience heavy bleeding that never seems to end, pain from incisions, or any number of things. It’s a lot. Just know that it does get better.

  • Research shows that many moms get physically and emotionally upset when they hear their baby crying after you make sure your baby is not hungry, sleepy or with a wet diaper. It’s okay, it’s not your fault! It’s ok to put your baby in a safe place or to hand her over to a trusted adult, leave the room and take a break.
